Rendezvous

Trying to make caramel to coat our homemade popcorn, things just got a little bit out of hand. Inititally, it was because the butter and the sugar didn't mesh together. Then, after stirring the mixture for what seemed like hours, it finally became a brownish yellow substance that stuck to the saucepan.
"Vicki, it looks like brain," Heidi said with an expression that was a cross between amusement and disgust.
"Maybe we should have put less sugar, or more butter," I told Heidi.
"You don't know exactly how much you have to put?!"
"Eh. The lady didn't tell me." Which was true, when we bought the popcorn machine (Together with the cotton candy and icecone machines), the lady only mentioned sugar and butter as the only needed ingredients.
"So it means you don't know?"
"Hey, this stuff is good. It tastes like Werther's Originals!" I exclaimed, as I dipped my finger into the hot paste.
Heidi stuck her finger into the brain and licked it. She nodded in approval, then realised how stupid everything sounds.
"Vicki! I don't believe you man!"
Heidi is so cute.
