Your Spring Speckle

Yesterday in the meadows, spinning, spinning with laughter
The light from the sky filters the dust and the clouds
There you see a single couple, dancing to a spring song
There a girl, she blows a flimsy flower off her palm

Their kiss is not elegant, it is young and lost and safe
Tremulous caresses, wearing thin cotton and chapped lips
Tonight they sleep in separate beds, but tonight is so far away
There a boy, he should kiss her forever in this light

There is freedom in this field, this field pale and golden
as they hide snugly between the tall, stilled grass
Skies mimic their quiet liaison; deliberate, gentle and crimson
There a young couple, makes love past the threadbare twilight
