I'm in my new office right now. From my desk, I see the towers of the business district. I also see colourful flats with predominantly Chinese decorations. But that's not all. I look down and I see refurbished shophouses, done up to their past glory. It's quite pretty in a sense.

Not as corporate as my previous office, where people walk around in suits and always in a hurry. Here, it is almost laidback. I wear shorts to work (with heels, that is). When I take the fax for one of the directors, he says "thank you very much". They care about my well-being here. I'm locking the door since you're the only one in the office. Please have your breakfast first, you can always do that later. Hi Vicki, can I please speak Ben? (That's from cute nerdy guy at work)

So yeah. It's definitely a welcomed change from my previous job. Everyone here is nice. No more bitchy receptionists in tight-tight-tight outfits. No classy foreign manager who doesn't give shit about welfare. No more security guards stopping me for my pass (the one here presses the lift button for me).

It's a mess here. There are IT stuff, boxes of them, on the floor. I sweep the floor of shredded paper, candy wrappers and dust when I'm free. I turn my MSN volume down, not because I'm doing it in secrecy, but because it'll be noisy with the radio on. It's a kind of familiar mess here that makes you feel at home.

I like it here. Really.
